New Property Team

Building upon our already strong reputation, our Newcastle and Glasgow offices are leading our expansion into the traditional property planning sectors, with our teams also working across our Kendal office.

Our planning teams have a wealth of knowledge and experience in a variety of development sectors which are largely new to Stephenson Halliday, and herald a number of new opportunities, both for the business and our existing and future clients.

Our planning teams are able to provide commercial and astute town planning advice on a wide range of development projects, including residential, commercial, retail, tourism and mixed use developments.

The planning team help to guide our clients through the many complexities of the planning system in a friendly, supportive manner.  Our key areas of expertise include the following:

  • Residential development;
  • Commercial, retail and mixed use development;
  • Tourism development;
  • Minerals, waste, infrastructure and renewable Energy;
  • Urban regeneration and urban extension schemes;
  • Development Plan representations and site promotion;
  • Planning applications and appeals; and
  • Site appraisals and assistance with site finding.

We understand the needs of developers and pride ourselves on forging good relationships with the local authorities we work with, helping to ensure a smooth transition through the planning system and providing commercial and responsive planning advice.

We always have a good understanding of the geographical areas in which we work, including local politics and other local pressures.

When working directly with landowners; we have a wide range of connections within the industry and can help identify the most appropriate developers to take sites forward, either with planning permission or to help you secure planning permission.

As a regional planning practice we are able to offer the one to one personal service our clients desire, and we encourage client contact with all of our team to build strong working relationships, ensuring that clients know and understand the people they are working with.

We have built a bespoke team with a significant range of experience, in both consultancy and developer roles, enabling us to compete with the larger consultancies on the quality of advice, level of service and cost.

Our property teams are led by Alastair Willis in Newcastle and Sarah Lapsley in Glasgow.
