ALEXANDRA BUILDINGS, LAKELAND LIMITED

Lakeland Limited commissioned Stephenson Halliday to prepare detailed landscape proposals for the redevelopment of their Head Office at Windermere, within the Lake District National Park.

The design of the external areas surrounding the shop, café and call centre provide a distinctive setting for Lakeland’s flagship commercial development. The emphasis of the design proposals is on the entrance area to the shop which forms a south facing courtyard with trees, seating, raised planters, water feature and lighting. The detailing and planting of the pedestrian route through the site focuses pedestrian circulation towards the shop entrance, connecting the shop with the adjacent railway station and town centre. The design also incorporates public and staff car parking.

The redeveloped shop opened in Easter 2004 and the final building phase providing refurbished office accommodation opened early 2005.
