LLANGWYRYFON WIND FARM
The Practice has secured planning consent for a 9.6MW wind farm at Llangwyryfon in mid Wales, south of Aberystwyth. The proposed scheme comprises 11 no. 850kW turbines and associated infrastructure.
The scope of work involved design of the proposed layout, with detailed consideration of the potential landscape and visual effects associated with alternative layout options. The final layout was confirmed following extensive consultation with Countryside Council for Wales, Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales, local representative of the local community and landowners. This was followed by comprehensive environmental assessment of the proposed scheme.
The Environmental Statement addressed the key issues of noise, ecology, archaeology, landscape and visual effects, and planning assessment. Ceredigion County Council approved the proposal and construction began in early 2003.
