Bradleys Sand Pit

Bradleys Sand Pit is located approximately 5km north west of Preston and is operated by J A. Jackson Ltd. Stephenson Halliday co-ordinated the Environmental Statement to accompany the planning application for an extension to the existing sand quarry operations. The extension should provide an additional 760,000 tonnes of sand to be worked over a period of 12 years including recycling and waste transfer activities.

The restoration proposals focused upon the development of the site into a nine hole golf course, with associated club house with other proposed ancillary developments consisting of a nursery, car parking area, stables and paddock. The nature conservation interests established as part of proposals include wildlife ponds, seasonal wetland areas, wildflower meadows and areas of native woodland designed to enhance locally important wildlife corridors. It is anticipated the application will be determined early 2008.
