The Study was commissioned by Cumbria Waste Management to assess the potential for landfill facilities in West Cumbria.

The initial stage of the study involved a GIS based constraints mapping exercise to identify potential areas of search. This was followed by a comprehensive planning and landscape and visual assessment for areas without constraint to evaluate potential sensitivity to development.
