Stephenson Halliday were pleased to assist Natural Capital on behalf of 20 20 Renewables with the preparation of a Landscape and Visual Assessment for the Airies wind farm proposal in Dumfries and Galloway.

The main issues were site design and relationship with operational and consented wind farms nearby at Artfield Fell and Kilgallioch as well as potential impacts on historic sites and landscape character. In addition the visual impacts were a key concern, including the potential impact on tourism, in its own right and cumulatively.

This site was approved by the council in March 2013.

Stephenson Halliday also completed a supplementary landscape addendum as part of a proposal to increase the turbine tip height by 10.5m to an overall height of 137m.  On the 18th August the Scottish Government approved the increase in height.
