Stephenson Halliday has worked closely with architects Hanson Marston Mellor and engineers RG Parkins on the extension to the Kendal Distribution Centre. Our involvement has been from the early stages of the project and incorporated:
• Assistance with design development and planning process;
• The detailed design of the landscape proposals as part of the planning application;
• Preparation of the required contract and as built landscape drawings, and
• Periodic assistance with contract management.
The landscape proposals surrounding the distribution centre built extension create a characterful recreational space for staff members with areas of birch groves, native tree planting, meadow grassland areas, wetland features and seating areas with outstanding views of the South Lakeland Fells. The site is positioned within the River Kent Floodplain and the landscape proposals accommodate rainwater runoff attenuation and the provision of additional floodplain capacity. The landscape proposals have also been designed to absorb long term stockpiled material and surplus infill material.
