The Scottish Government have approved the appeal for the increase in height of the Airies wind farm, originally consented in 2013.
Stephenson Halliday completed the supplementary landscape addendum as part of the proposal to increase the turbine tip height by 10.5m to an overall height of 137m.
This followed the our preparation of the main landscape and visual impact assessment of the wind farm for Natural Capital on behalf of 20 20 Renewables.
The main issues were site design and relationship with operational and consented wind farms nearby at Artfield Fell and Kilgallioch as well as potential impacts on historic sites and landscape character. In addition the visual impacts were a key concern, including the potential impact on tourism, in its own right and cumulatively.
