Approval at Lydiate Lane Quarry
Lancashire County Council planning committee has today voted to approve an extension in time to operations at Lydiate Lane Quarry, Leyland, for the next 15 years. The application, on behalf of J.A. Jackson, will allow for the continued working of one of the most important sand and gravel quarries in the county. Stephenson Halliday director, Peter Stephenson, spoke at committee in response to objections from the agent for the adjoining land owner. He emphasised the importance of the quarry to the local area and explained that concerns about slope stability had been fully addressed as part of the application. The approval also permits operating hours at the quarry to commence from 6.30am, allowing for important early deliveries to local and regional construction sites.
