Type

Landscape management and maintenance of ecological mitigation sites

Status

Landowner handback reports for phase 2 ecological compensation sites

Phase 1 of EWR saw Carillion–Buckingham appoint RSK Landscape (now part of Stephenson Halliday) to provide landowner consultations, landscape design and contract preparation for lineside, community and ecological mitigation projects. The landscape team supervised the landscape implementation work and three years monitoring of the maintenance contract. We produced 29 detailed landscape plans for locations ranging from urban environments, such as Oxford Parkway, to rural habitats and amenity landscapes. All sites are connected through a newly created green corridor along the track and they contribute to green infrastructure that benefits local ecology.

EWR phase 2 is a continuation of the new railway line from Bicester to Milton Keynes. Our landscape management team is responsible for overseeing the long-term maintenance of the ecological mitigation sites. We have prepared landscape maintenance plans and a 30-year management plan alongside contract administration and ongoing monitoring.
