RSK Landscape (now part of Stephenson Halliday) is responsible for managing land on behalf of Homes England (as a subcontractor to TEP) across the South East and South West as part of the estates management framework. All landholdings are managed to promote safety; appropriate habitat management; best horticultural practice; prevention of unlawful access; and the review of associated signage. In addition, RSK provides arboriculture, invasive and noxious weed management and ecological surveys.
One of the sites that RSK manages is 128 ha of land at Ifield in Crawley. This encompasses part of the Ifield village conservation area, a site of nature conservation interest (SNCI), an area of semi-natural ancient woodland and a farm. Liaising closely with local stakeholders, RSK produced a landscape management plan for the SNCI to enhance the ecological value of the site and the public’s use and enjoyment. We oversaw the phased improvement work to recreate locally important grasslands, restore ditch lines, improve public access routes and reinstate heritage features.
