Kents Bank, near Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria.

Stephenson Halliday initially appraised the Site and local landscape context before offering landscape, open space and green infrastructure recommendations for the Client’s proposed 90 unit residential development upon land at Allithwaite Road, Kents Bank.

Our landscape architects worked closely with the Client to develop an appropriate landscape design for the proposed development, which promoted: the retention and enhancement of the existing hedgerow and tree line along Allithwaite Road; a new cycleway; new pedestrian links; and a new traditional village green bound by a new low stone wall constructed, wherever possible, with materials reclaimed from Site.

The proposed design also included new wildlife corridors and ecological mitigation to: mitigate any loss of existing green infrastructure to facilitate development; and enhance existing wildlife habitats on the Site. Thereafter, we prepared a detailed landscape design which specified proposed plant species, sizes, densities and numbers.
