Stephenson Halliday undertook the planning work and collated the Environmental Statement for Phase 1 of the Withernwick Wind Farm which comprised 9no. 110m turbines. We later provided expert landscape planning witness services to our client at the public inquiry which saw the scheme approved. The key issues examined at the inquiry were the landscape and visual impacts of the scheme balanced against its benefits, and having regard to Government policy in respect of combating climate change and improving energy security. We prepared the relevant appeal documentation and participated in the inquiry under cross examination from the opposing barrister.

Following this success, we also co-ordinated the Environmental Statement and undertook all planning and landscape work, including provision of the Planning Statement, for Phase 2 of the development comprising a further 4 wind turbines. Again we later provided expert landscape planning witness services to our client at the public inquiry which saw the scheme approved. The key issues examined at the inquiry were the landscape and visual impacts of the scheme.

Phase 1 – Consented March 2009, Operational 2013, Phase 2 – Consented December 2016

Stephenson Halliday undertook landscape and visual impact assessment, including cumulative assessment, for Phases 1 and 2 of the Withernwick Wind Farm.
