Screening, Scoping and Appraisals

Studying the right issues is crucial to achieving successful outcomes in a cost effective manner. Too often relatively minor issues are covered as a consequence of a precautionary approach when there are better ways of dealing with them. Establishing the appropriate strategy to achieve necessary approvals, as well as the minimum scope of work required to support that approach, comes from an understanding of the policy drivers and the detail of the relevant regulations.

Our support on projects would typically progress through screening (against EIA and Habitats Regulations as appropriate) and a scoping exercise. The latter is relevant to EIA and non EIA development to identify the studies required (and those not required) culminating for EIA development in a request for a formal scoping opinion. We then ensure clear instruction to necessary technical experts and co-ordinate an iterative assessment and design process culminating in the preparation of robust and concise submission documentation including all introductory and concluding chapters and figures.

The following projects provide a snapshot overview of the range of projects we have worked on but cannot cover every example. Contact us to discuss our experience relevant to your specific needs.
